Bonfire Night

The chilly night air settling on the roof tops
the dark alley catching glimpse of light
the strangers under a blanket of colour
outside, inside television, the desert of the real roars

Men, women and children dancing with life
bang, sparkle, crack, pop are the sounds
rattling through the air like thunder
the drifting clouds illuminating
like cold rainbows at night
outside, inside, television they cry

Flashes on the window with blood on the floor
money spent on ingredients of destruction
heart beating through motion
outside, inside, television they cry
Bonfire night inside television bleeding dry.
