I spent time with my family to wrap and unwrap presents, bake cookies for Father Christmas, visit wider family in the countryside and indulge in the creative penmanship of TinTin, Wonders of the Solar System, Great Expectations, Sherlock Holmes, Mansfield Park and the Young Queen Victoria. However, it was in deciding to purchase a family telescope to drool over the winter skies that brought most joy. With the aid of the Star Walk App we danced across the craters and mountains of our beautiful moon, and then successfully (with great effort) pinpointed Jupiter and three of it’s moons – Utter awe and adventure arose in us all. Knowing that the Earth and its inhabitants are part of a wider life cycle blasts the mind with wild and comforting thoughts of exploration.
Our existence is precious, and so is each and every one of us. Whenever you gaze up at the night stars and moon take comfort in knowing that you are apart of something bigger than your everyday existence. Carry this thought with you everywhere you go and you will be sure to embark on a new beginning of observation and knowledge: Life.
