Before You Marry

There is no dying age calved in stone

glaring at me on the other side of the green, it sits

the crimson cloud climbs over the electric cables

bird’s flap their wings skipping through the trees

animal’s communicating in a universal language

they, in a world without human barriers

I would tell my children that…

before you marry

be sure you can speak freely and without restrictions

everyone is beautiful, but to you, he/she is unique

they must be the flower blossoming in your heart

and the roots to your growing tree

if this cycle were to get me to half a century

this would be enough to secure their future

I would nurture my children into adults

and would have accomplished all my goals

if you both connect spiritually

if he/she feels like your soul-mate

if you can see past the physical and the mental

if you both live in harmony with one direction

so, perhaps fifty is the sign set in my stone

the cicada’s cradling inside its harmonious sound

time will tell my fate, sa…

yet either way, I am not defeated

be sure to have tasted his/her sweat flesh

and if you are content, this is enough

cultivate your impurities to hold no expectations

and see through each others mistakes

if you can say yes to all my words…

then my children, you have found the one to marry

  1. I love this quote when my soul mate does not feel like my soul mate.

Nearly all marriages, even happy ones, are mistakes: in the sense that almost certainly (in a more perfect world, or even with a little more care in this very imperfect one) both partners might be found more suitable mates. But the real soul-mate is the one you are actually married to.

On the surface it seems unromantic, but I think it is the most romantic thing in the world. It makes me fall in love all over again.

    1. Ah yes… I’ve read this one. A wonderful response to an interesting topic. Keep feeling that feeling! : )
